A walk in the nature reserve

Salina di Cervia

Equipped with binoculars, we set off with our guide along paths immersed in the authentic landscape of the protected nature of the Po Delta Park. This unique territory - one of the most important wetland ecosystems in Europe - is characterised by a great variety of environments, from brackish water valleys to grassy areas, where water and land merge into a mosaic of life.

The hike is suitable for everyone, the terrain is flat and the length of the route is approximately 1 km round trip.

Along the way we observe the typical flora of the Salina and, with a bit of luck, some of the many species of birds that live, migrate or breed here: a true paradise for nature watchers. During the visit you can enjoy a true sensory experience!

The Salina environment also hosts a surprising flora, perfectly adapted to the brackish conditions and sandy soils of the Po Delta Park. Along the way we will be able to recognise wild species such as the wild asparagus, which grows among the banks and coastal meadows, the wild blackthorn with its dense natural hedges, the tamarisk with its delicate pinkish hues, and the glasswort, a plant symbolic of brackish environments, capable of living where few other species manage to take root.

These plants are not simply plant presences: they are a fundamental part of the salt marsh ecosystem, providing food, shelter and nesting sites for numerous insects and birds. To observe them is to understand how each element, even the most discreet, contributes to the balance and richness of this protected landscape.

Some areas are deliberately left in their natural state, with tall grass, spontaneous vegetation and uncut areas, because these unmanicured habitats promote biodiversity and provide shelter, food and areas of refuge for many species. It is this balance between open spaces, marshy areas and wild vegetation that makes the Park such a rich place for life and surprises.
